Nico Heinrich- an analog Photographer

Interviewed by Medina Shala

Tell me a little bit about yourself?

ย Hey, my name is Nico Heinrich, I am 26 and living in Cologne (Germany). I enjoy taking photos and let the creativity flow.

How did you develop your interest in photography?

I would say it came with the very classic story โ€ฆ my grandmother gave me an old Canon AE1 a few years ago and then it all started. I enjoyed going outside and trained my eyes to see different forms or motives in nature.

ย

If you had no restrictions at all, who would you be?

Who I would be? Like which person? To be honest I donโ€™t want to be somebody else โ€ฆ

How is your personality reflected in your work?

I think there are some little details if you look closely. I try to catch people in their purest moments while shooting. When they feel comfortable the most and let go all the feelings around themselves, those moments create a very specific expression in a photo.

Whatโ€™s your all time favourite film ?

Puhhh.. hard question. It depends on in what light situation I want to shoot but I really love the iconic Kodak Gold.

Why do you shoot analogue?

Iโ€™ve never shot digital yet, so I started analogue and directly fell in love with it. I would say itโ€™s because the process, the time you put in and all the love you get from it at the end. Youโ€™ll never get the style from an analogue photo with the edit of a digital photo.. my words haha..
