Interviewed by Medina Shalaย
Tell me a little bit about yourself?
My name is Arthur Iskandarov. I am a photographer, 3D Artist from Minsk. I guess, Iโve been photographing for 6 years and the focus of my work is male tests.
What is the one thing you wish you knew when you started taking photos?
Perhaps, itโs a process, including the process how to organize communication with people and interaction with the personal space of the object (model) of the shooting.
What motivates you to create?
Just like the others, it must be beauty, the transfer of emotions, the creation of a certain detachment from time.
How has your style changed over time?
It has changed a lot.ย I used to love commercial fashion digital shooting, a lot of images, props. Then a modeling agent found me and asked me to shoot male tests and a couple of times after that I realized that this direction is clear and so close to me.
I think the older you get, the more interesting you get in the process of creating the final image, even a simple one, thatโs why Iโve started taking pictures on film. In film photography, everything is more complicated, you are limited by the number of frames, and the process of thinking the frame is much longer.ย
If thereโs something you want to have right now, what is it?
Oh, it is a tricky question. I suppose that is an “opportunity” to do what I like ย andย what inspires me.
What makes you proud of ?
By nature, I am an introvert – therefore, the experience and ability to find the personal boundaries and go beyond them carefully, making a person feel relaxed in front of the camera.
Whose work has influenced you most?
It is also a difficult question. If we talk about visual arts, nowadays there are a lot of talented photographers and a great number of works. The most recognizable are Richard Avedon, Vivian Maier, Peter Lindbergh, Annie Leibovitzย (but the film early period) Robert Mapplethorpe, Bruce Weber and so on.
